What we ask for
An email address and a password of at least ten characters. That is all. You can instead sign in with Google, which tells us the address on that Google account and nothing else.

Creating an account
Verifying the address
We email a link to confirm the address is yours. Until you use it the account exists but cannot redeem a licence key. The link can be sent again from your account page.
Signing in
Signing in on the site also signs you in to the Study App, and staying signed in lasts about three months before you are asked again.

Packages attach to the account, not to a device or a browser.
- A licence key arrives by email. When checkout is switched on, a completed purchase emails one key covering everything in that order.
- You add the key to your account. Under Have a key? on your account page, paste it once. A key works once and belongs to the account that used it.
- The packages appear. They show on your account page and in the Study App straight away, on every device you sign in on.
Checkout is not switched on yet, so no keys are being issued today. An administrator can also add packages to an account directly.

Some things belong to your account and appear wherever you sign in. Some stay on the device you studied on. It is worth knowing which is which.

Sign in on a second device and your packages and guides are there. Your review queue and weak areas are not: they are worked out from the marks on the device you studied on.
Studying offline
Once a package has loaded on a device, its questions are kept there and you can carry on studying without a connection.

Written and oral questions you have already loaded, study and test modes, your review queue, weak areas and your saved guides on that device.
Needs a connection
Signing in, loading a package for the first time, adding a licence key, saving a guide to your account, scanning an AKTR, and feedback from the AI examiner.
What leaves your device
Answering out loud
Your answer reaches the examiner as text. You can type it, or press Speak and let your browser's own speech-to-text write it for you. ATA Prep never receives or records audio; if you dictate, the speech recognition is your browser's and some browsers send that audio to their maker to transcribe it, under their terms.
When you ask for feedback, the text in the box goes to our server with the question and its reference answer, and the critique comes back. ATA Prep does not save your answer or the feedback.
Scanning an AKTR
Your report is sent to our server, read for its ACS codes, and the codes come back. ATA Prep does not save the file you uploaded. Reading it uses an outside AI service, which handles it under its own terms.
